It’s Packing Week!! Toiletries Checklist

toiletries

Out of all the questions we have received from people, everyone is always interested in what we have packed and how we got everything in 1 carry-on bag, plus one personal item each.  So this is your lucky week, you get to see what is in our bags!

We have been specifically asked about toiletries, so we are going to start there.  Honestly, I didn’t wake up in time to show you all our clothes, so you will have to wait until to tomorrow…I know it is going to be hard to wait!  We have a few must have items below, that have made our lives much easier.

Must Have Items

  • LUSH SOLID SHAMPOO – this is clutch!  Not only does it last forever, 1-3 months depending on how often you shampoo, but it does NOT have to go in your 1-quart clear bag.  Plus our hair looks the healthiest it has ever been.  We have been using Godiva and Jumping Juniper.
  • NUXE MULTI-USE DRY OIL – yes, it is expensive, but it is worth it.  It becomes your face and body moisturizer and can be used as hair oil.  Because it is an oil, you don’t have to use as much and therefore it lasts longer.  It is exactly 100 ml, so it also meets the requirements for your clear 1-quart bag.  The exact name is NUXE Huile Prodigieuse.

The Basics

  • We made a toiletries checklist (see below) for you to download of all the basics to make sure you bring.
  • Ladies, I highly recommend you bring your personal monthly items.  This will save you the embarrassment of asking a 66-year old Belgian man to take you to the pharmacy because you need personal items.  To which he argues with you, saying you have to have a prescription to buy anything at the pharmacy.  Once you finally convince him to take you and find your personal items, they are on the top shelf.  They are so high you have to have a man help you  get them down, and even he is standing on his tip-toes.  Not to mention 1 regular box of tampons will run you almost 7 Euros!  Just make room in your bag, trust me on this one.

Extras

  • We did bring a thermometer with us, because I was really sick before we left on our adventure.  We ended up needing it right away, because Jon got sick.  If you are going to be gone long-term, it might be something you want to consider adding to your bag.
  • I also was gifted with an ultra-mini hair straightener before we left.  I don’t use it everyday, but I love having it, because sometimes it can just make you feel pretty and lady-like to take care of your locks.  It is not a necessity, but something to consider
