Fung Shui Bagua

When we moved into our house a few years ago, I had studied up on the basics of Feng shui.  Essentially the idea is arranging things in a certain way allows the qi, or energy, in the home to flow better.  The same idea is used in acupuncture with balancing the qi channels in the body, to bring optimal health.

I figured why not give it a try.  We implemented the basics, mirror over the fireplace, no clutter, putting the toilet lid down before flushing, making our bedroom a peaceful oasis, etc.  Around March of this year I revisited the notes I took on Feng shui and the bagua, a map that shows different energy centers of the home.  I got a compass on our smart phone and determined which area of our house was North.  From there I placed the bagua map so North on the map was facing North directionally.  Then I could see all the major energy centers of the home based off the bagua.  I made this basic bagua so you can see what I am referring to:

What we realized is the travel center of the house is our garage.  At that point Jon and I just wanted to travel more, we had no idea we would be where we are today.  So I convinced Jon and my parents that were visiting, to clear out the clutter from the garage and paint it gray, the color corresponding to travel on the bagua.  I am by no means an expert on Fung Shui, but what we have done works!  This year we have been to the Biltmore in Asheville, London, Poole-England, Sarasota, Bordeaux-France, San Sebastian-Spain, Tennessee and Charleston.  And now we are getting ready to travel Europe for a year!  Do I think this is all because of Feng Shui, no.  But it seems to have made a difference, so why not try?  The worst that could happen is your house looks better with some fresh paint and less clutter!
