Resolutions vs Goals

How are those New Year’s resolutions going?  Forgot what you even said on New Year’s Eve?  Long given up on resolutions?   We have too!  Instead we write goals.  Each year since we have been married, around the first of the year Jon and I sit down and write our own personal goals and together goals.  Some are long term, some are short term.  We find it to be much more effective than resolutions that are long forgotten by mid-January.

One of the best books I have read about keeping up with short term goals is The Happiness Project.  My best friend gave me the book and it is what started us on monthly check-lists.  It is best served for short term goals that you want to meet daily or monthly.  You have a list and check-off what you have accomplished each day.  The main thing it does is keep your goals up front and in your thoughts daily.  Which is important to remember.

I have made up a simple checklist for February Goals in PDF format, if you would like to print it out and try keeping goals for a month.  We are going to use it too, especially for our blog goals.  We really want to grow our blog to inspire others and have set up goals for ourselves.  I have to say, we were a bit ambitious for January, but the one goal we are close to, is having 200 people like us on facebook.  As of this moment, we have 195, so if you haven’t “liked” us yet on facebook (or twitter) please do and maybe by tomorrow, February 1st, we can reach our goal with your help!
