Motivational Monday: Don’t be realistic

MM: wild horses to ride

One of the saddest lines in the world is, “Oh come now – be realistic.”

The best parts of this world were not fashioned by those who were realistic. They were fashioned by those who dared to look hard at their wishes and gave them horses to ride.

– Richard Nelson Bolles

Don’t you just love the visual that comes along with this quote?  I see a group of wild horses in full gallop through rugged countryside, with knowledge of where they are going and nothing is going to stop them.  Talk about a powerful metaphor for making things happen!

Selling a home and quitting great jobs to travel, is definitely not realistic…but we did it, because it was our dream and you never know how much time you have to make your dreams come true.

What do you spend time dreaming about?  What are your wishes that seem enormous?  Can you visualize those dreams and wishes being carried by powerful horses to the finish line?  What changes do you have to make to see those wishes come true?  What action do you have to take?  Notice in the quote the wishes are being carried by horses…that is a considerable amount of action to make wishes come true.

Do you dream of something big like world peace or ending world hunger?  How easy it is to say, “Oh come on, be realistic,” to those dreams!?!  It is worth it to mention that I think many of us have been the naysayers before too!  But all a person might have is their dreams, so never, ever bring a person down for sharing their dreams!

Today give those dreams and wishes wild horses to ride…who knows where you may end up!?!
