You Just Never Know…

durdle dor

Do you remember our adventure hike to Durdle Door?  It was the hike near Lulworth cove and the Door or Arch that has been created in the Sea from the power of waves.  We hiked along the coast and at one point were up in the clouds, with the wind whipping by.  Being on top of the cliff with my arms spread wide, was a feeling so expansive and as if God was giving me a huge hug.

Here are some pictures to jog your memory:

Guess what!?!  Right there, right where I was standing with my arms stretched wide, is no longer there!  There was a huge landslide last week and the entire cliff is now in the sea.  Almost exactly where we stood to take the picture of the path, is no longer there!  The good news is, no one was hurt, thank God.

This made both of us think how impermanent things are in life.  We often think, oh the Great Barrier Reef will always be there, Venice will always be there, Mount Rushmore will always be there…but guess what, we have no guarantee.  We really have no way of knowing how long things will be how they are.  Mother Nature can change things, humans can change things.

What can you take away from this?  If you have a dream of going somewhere or seeing something, DO IT NOW! Don’t wait for a day somewhere in the future.  Go for it, set your plan & make it happen.  Because we are not guaranteed things will be there forever.
