We are in Dublin, Ireland at the Guinness Factory!

What is the first thing you think of when you think of Dublin?  For us it is a pint of the “black stuff!”

One of the top 10 things to do in Dublin is visit the Guinness Factory.  I have to tell you we were all impressed with the Guinness Factory.  At first it seemed to priced a little bit high, but it turned into a real experience and we spent half the day learning about the process of making Guinness, eating and of course drinking Guinness.

The tour is self guided, so you can absorb as much, or as little information as you want.  Jon is fascinated by how things are made, so he was in heaven.

The factory also has 3 different restaurants with Guinness inspired items like Guinness stew and Guinness black bread.  Mid-day they also offer free Guinness food pairings.  We happened to hit it right after our lunch and were surprised how well Guinness pairs with chocolate!  Instantly every sip tasted like chocolate…you definitely will want to try this at home!

Part of the tour is the “Perfect Pour School” where you can learn and get a certificate for pouring the perfect pint of Guinness.  You end up pouring your own pint and it is actually a lot of fun.

The best part is the panoramic view of Dublin from the 7th floor.  You can get your “free” pint (covered in the cost of admission) here and enjoy as you look over the famous city.

They say the Guinness tastes different in Dublin because of the water they use, considering I have never been a big Guinness fan, I have to agree.  The black stuff is pretty tasty!  Slainte from Dublin!
