Walking Florence

The last part of the trip with my girlfriends was in Florence, the capital of Tuscany.  Florence is an easy city to walk so we set out on many strolls through the city of art.  Without even realizing it, the apartment we rented was located a few steps from the Ponte Vecchio and a few blocks from the Duomo, a perfect central location.

One of the best part is never knowing what you are going to stumble upon when walking the streets of Florence.  Our favorite was walking into an open church that happened to have a full symphony playing.  It was open seating and everyone that walked in was welcomed, for free.  The group was so good they came out for multiple encores, because no one stopped clapping!  Just a normal summer night in Italy!

Jon and I also enjoyed some romantic walks together at night, while the girls did their young, single, party thing.  I can tell I am getting old because the thought of drinking & partying at a club just doesn’t even sound fun.  Not to mention it has been almost a decade since I have gone clubbin’…good thing they had each other, so this old lady didn’t bring down the fun!

For being a larger city, Florence is relatively clean and feels very safe to walk around.  On this trip the city started growing on me a little bit more.  Plus, FSU International has a campus there during the summer…totally my dream to teach for them in the summer months!  While Jon is giving wine tours in Tuscany…what do you all think!?!
