Visiting Greenwich

24 hour clock

Yesterday we made the short trip to Greenwich, just outside of central London, to visit the Greenwich Meridian.    The Greenwich Mean Time has been the home of time since 1884, from which all time zones are measured.  The Greenwich mean time is the standard for International time and is used in the military as Zulu time.  The line also represents 0 longitude, so you can stand equally in the Eastern and Western Hemispheres along the Greenwich line.

Greenwich is a World Heritage Site and has plenty to keep you busy, from shopping in the village, museums, touring the Cutty Sark tea clipper, visiting the Royal Observatory, to enjoying the open parks.

You can easily get to Greenwich by bus, tube or ferry.  If you have some extra time during your trip to London, Greenwich is a nice stop to make.
