Road Trip: Charleston

Secret Garden Charleston

Our most favorite city in the South is Charleston and was the second stop on our road trip.  There are some places that you can visit over and over again and never get tired of seeing.  Plus, we have great friends that live in the area, that we always enjoy spending time with.

The best part of Charleston is simply walking around downtown and the Battery.  Taking in all different sizes and types of buildings.  The park benches also make a good resting spot before starting the walk back to Historic City Market.

Meandering through the streets also gives you the opportunity to peek into secret gardens.  Locals can take small plots of open space and magically create a green oasis that makes the best gardener jealous.

Charleston is known for its food and restaurants.  Two of our favorite spots are S.N.O.B. (Slightly North of Broad) and Caviar & Bananas.

S.N.O.B. is on our list of one of the best dinners we have shared with friends.  They have great food and great service.  It is one of those places that can create a magical evening, if you are open to it.

Caviar & Bananas is a gourmet market, full of delicious healthy treats and a perfect lunch spot.  If you have food sensitivities Caviar & Bananas will be heaven for you.

We didn’t get to it this trip, but Sullivan’s Island is another one of our favorite spots.  Once you are on Sullivan’s Island there are beach access points to park and walk.  From the beach you can see Ft. Sumter and downtown Charleston.  It is a great beach to walk and enjoy the Atlantic.

Goodbye Low Country, Hello…

As we say goodbye to the Low Country we are headed to another port city.  This is the oldest city in the United States founded by the Spanish in 1565.  Any guesses?
