Edinburgh’s Royal Mile: Celebration of Troops & Royal Sighting

Welcome home troops

Yesterday, was a beautiful day with the sun shining, so we decided to be outside walking the entire day.  We headed out with the plan to walk the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace.

Once we reached the Royal Mile, to our surprise there was a large event welcoming home the Royal Scots from Afganistan.  The military men and women were lined up as far as you could see down the Royal Mile for the ceremony.  There were bag pipes playing in the distance and people cheering and clapping along the street.  There was a wonderful sense of community and spirit within the town, it felt like we were part of a close-knit group, welcoming home the pride of the Scottish people.

We were also fortunate enough to see Anne Princess Royal, Queen Elizabeth’s daughter, at the event!  Not everyday you get to see royalty, got to love the timing of the Universe!
