Classic London

Yesterday we visited the classic sights of London, starting with Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, the epitomy of British pomp and circumstance.  During the summer months you can experience Changing of the Guard daily, if you come in the off season make sure you check the dates and times first.  The most impressive are the members of the Guard that play instruments and ride horseback at the same time!  That is talent!

Then we took an easy stroll to Trafalgar Square, which has been transformed for the touring Soccer Champions League Trophy.  You could walk up and get your picture holding the trophy.  It was an impressive set up with a mock soccer field, although we think a little bit more thought should have gone into the positioning of the soccer balls, what do you think?

And we finished up with strolling to the Houses of Parliament and visiting Big Ben.

Jon made a great video for you of some of the sights from along the Thames with views of the Millennium Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral and Changing of the Guard.  Enjoy!

We also learned from family last night through Twitter about the tragic attack here in London.  We are being cautious and the Mayor has said to go on about your day as normal.  Still thrown off by it all, just wish everyone in the whole world could get along peacefully.
