Churches of Dublin

St. Patricks

We enjoy visiting churches in all the different places we go.  In Dublin, we went to the Carmelite Church with the shrine to St. Valentine and St. Patrick’s Cathedral.  The two churches are so different, the Carmelite Church is light and airy with brilliant mosaic work throughout.  It is also very active, with a constant flow of prayer and candle lighting.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral on the other hand is one of the most famous churches in Dublin and is very dark and feels as if you have been transported to medieval times.  It has become more of a museum rather than an active church.

Both churches are only about two blocks from each other, so it is a fun contrast to make and determine which one you like better.

Here are some shots at the Carmelite Church:

When I saw a picture of this, I just had to see it in person...it was pretty remarkable!
