Beaches of Montpellier

beach day feature

Montpellier is known for it’s beautiful beaches, and we have to agree!  The beaches of Montpellier are beautiful,  the sand is a light cappuccino color and soft under your toes, while the water is dark blue.  The beaches are about a 15 minute drive from the center of Montpellier.  Or you can take public transport, which is ideal, for only 2.80 Euros per person you can get round trip tickets from city center, to the beaches and back.

To get to the beach take Tram Line 3 towards Pérols Étang de l’Or (Don’t get on Tram 3 towards Lattes Centre it splits off in a different direction).  Pérols Étang de l’Or is the last stop on tram line 3, here there are busses that leave every 10-20 minutes to the beach.  Bus 131 to Navette des Plages is the one you want.  It drops you off near access 68, which is away from all the resorts and crowds.

Along the entire length of the beach, there are outdoor restaurants, chairs for rent and food carts with snacks, drinks and of course coffee.  The weather started out overcast, which was perfect for me!  By the time we left the sun was out full force and I was hiding in Jon’s T-shirt from the sun…oh how times have changed!

We have to thank Jean Renoux for the recommendation to go to the beach, it was a great adventure and perfect day!  Thank you Jean!
